RHYTHM ROAD
Music and rhythm add a twist to this platforming experience!
Play as a rock star who enters a coma. While in a coma he finds himself in an obstacle course that is in sync with a song he made himself. If he can reach the end, he can wake up from his coma.

Reach the end of the level by navigating in tune to the rhythm and avoiding obstacles. The player moves freely on its own and the player must make it jump, rotate, strafe and perform actions by pressing inputs. If the player hits the inputs on rhythm they get extra points.

This is my Final Thesis project for Academy of Art, using all the Level Design and scripting skills I've learned and incorporating that with the music skills I learned at UC Berkeley and in elective courses at the Academy as well, to make one awesome musical experience.

I have plans to expand the game, make more levels and add more styles of gameplay (for example: 2D platforming, top-down shooting, and boss battles) but first I want to have a team that can make awesome character and environment designs. This is my #1 idea if I am able to have my own startup game company or find a studio that shares my interests.
The music would be both mine and other people's works. I fantasize about commissioning famous electronic artists to contribute to the game. In addition, remixes of levels could be done, using remixes of that level's music, as downloadable content. This could be a hit game that could have years of shelf life.

Please E-mail me if you want to play the game, help expand the game, or both! Below you will find more details of the game, videos, screenshots and prototypes.

UPDATES
Thesis Project Approved! Demo released!
December 15, 2016
(This was originally posted on my old website and has been moved over to this new one, with the original date but some changes)

The Thesis project has been approved and I can graduate from Academy of Art University! You can find video and the download of the latest build below.

I will begin work on new levels in the near future, but I will need UI artists, material artists, lighters and environment artists to make this a viable game to put on Steam, Xbox Live Arcade, etc.

Stay tuned to this page, plus my main site and blog for more updates!

VIDEO
Below you can find demonstrations of my Thesis.
A NEW JOURNEY
Abridged Demo
The abridged demonstration of my level "A New Journey" with sixty seconds of the best moments from my level.
A NEW JOURNEY
Full Demo
The full demonstration of my level "A New Journey" with all game mechanics present and a high score!
MASTER'S TRIAL
Full Demo
The tech demo I made the prior, semester "Master's Trial", showcased what I wanted to make to my instructors. The level was not publicly released as it didn't pass inspection. I made "A New Journey" instead.

MUSIC
The playlist below has all the music from the game. In this case, it is just the "A New Journey" song remixed for the game. Another version of the remix appears on the "On This Night" single.

SCREENSHOTS
See below for shots from "A New Journey" and other parts of the game.
